Description about Kate Johns

Cook Strait Kate:

The mind of a winner has been training for a long time because she had one main goal that she wanted to achieve.

Her name is Kate Johns.

• Kate Johns was 14 teen years old.
• She was raised in Wellington.
• Kate did many other things
• Jazz
• Dancing
• Playing the Drums
• Water Polo
• Aerobics
• Netball

One day kate had Netball training, while she was at Netball training she broke her knee.

The injury was pretty bad but that did not stop her from practicing her swimming kicks, Kate could feel pain but she just carried on kicking in the water because she didn't want to give up on swimming Cooks Strait Bay.

Kate Johns had one main goal that she said that one day she would accomplish but only when the tide was right to swim in and also when the water was 18 degrees.

This 14 teen year girl wanted to be the first youngest girl to ever swim Cooks Strait Bay so that she could show other that not only one person that was 2 years older than her could swim the whole of Cook's Strait Bay.

It was one night where she was in Christchurch when her coach Phillips rang her and told her that in the morning the tide will be 18 degrees which means that it would be the right time to swim Cook’s Strait Bay, Kate was excited and then when she told her mum, she said ok then I will tell the people at the airport to hold the plane to Wellington, they said they can’t but they still holded the plane.

Kate rang her dad and told him that they had to leave to go to Wellington because in the morning she will be able to swim Cook’s Strait Bay.

Her dad was happy and then he told his boss that he had to go back to Wellington because his daughter was going to swim the whole of Cook’s Strait Bay in the morning, his boss let him go and then when they go to the airport Kate's mum bought 3 tickets to Wellington.

When they got on the plane Kate could not go sleep all night long because of how excited she was to swim Cook’s Strait Bay.

They met up with Philip Kates coach and then after that her coach, mum and dad said that it was ok if she didn't want to swim Cook’s Bay but all Kate said was I want to because I want to show other that I will be the first youngest girl ever to swim Cook’s Strait Bay.

When Kate jumped into the water she had to first let the tide take her out a little bit then when the tide did Kate got up and started swimming, she was swimming for ages because she had to swim 25 kilometers as she got tired she got scared because she thought that there was Sharks around where she was swimming, but she knew that there was no Sharks because there was Dolphins and Dolphins and Sharks don’t hang out.

Kate was losing encouragement of swimming 25 kilometers but every time she saw the Dolphins they would encourage her to carry on swimming only because she had 10 kilometers to go until she was finished.

The Dolphins left because the water started to get rough and Kate was almost at the end all she had to do now was get out of the water and she was finished, but the water pulled her back which gave her a massive scratch.

Kate was about to cry but then she quickly got up and got out of the water.

When her parents saw her they were speechless because they did not know what to say because Kate did it she accomplished her goal.

Kate had hamburgers and then she said that her next goal was to win in the 2004 Olympic games in Athens.

He designed a new type of an umbrella so people would not get wet when it rained and to block the sun from getting in their faces, also because every time he was walking beside someone and it started raining people would pull their umbrellas out and the sharp end would poke him in the eye-OUCH!
